History
Purmo Group originated from the company Purmo Tuote, which was founded in 1953
The company was founded in the village of Purmo by Ivar Langnabba, Gunnar Skog and Ingvar Granroth. Purmo Tuote's range included the only bow-saw of its kind at the time, a snow shovel, and other metal products and equipment. The Purmo bow-saw was particularly well received throughout the country, and since then the PURMO trademark has been highly valued and respected.
In 1959, Purmo Tuote bought a sheet-metalworking company who manufactured radiators
The radiators were repeatedly improved and the production equipment was updated. In the course of the manufacturing development, Purmo began to equip its heating elements with heat distribution plates installed in the rear part. This increased the heating surface and heat output, and consequently the competitiveness of the product. Purmo Tuote now produced a successful line of products for Finland, and the export of radiators to England and Germany began in the 1960s and 1970s.
In 1971, Purmo Group bought Purmo Tuote and it became the Group's first radiator factory
Purmo Group's operations at that time included the production of tobacco, ropes, and sweets, as well as operations in the shipping industry.
Purmo Group increasingly focused on the production of radiators
Over time, Purmo Group increasingly focused its operations on the production of radiators, and already produces seven different brands of radiators. Purmo Group is considered the largest radiator manufacturer in Europe.
